Amelia's Room
A few weeks ago I borrowed my mother-in-laws DSLR. I've been playing with it and getting to know the manual modes as well as the auto features. I finally took pictures of Amelia's room today. It's as finished as it's going to get in this house and I like how it's turned out for the most part. Let me know what you think.

Stepin' Out Saturday - January Twenty First
This is a little late but I was waiting on permission to use pictures.
Saturday night Amelia and I accompanied my mom to an event run by her friend. It's called Sassy Shoes Social. It is sponsored by a lot of local women entrepreneurs, specifically Sheree Boegner. It was such a fun time! The idea is to wear your sassy shoes, walk the runway and win fun door prizes, while becoming better aquatinted with local businesses. There was a "girls" category and I entered Amelia even though to be honest her shoes weren't that sassy. I looked for a week to find her cute shoes but couldn't find anything in her size. I had planned for her to wear her boots from target but one decided to unravel as I was trying to put it on her. In the end she wore her sneakers which are still pretty darn cute. We both walked the runway and Amelia won "Cute as a Button." It was a lot of fun and if we are still living in this area I would love to go next year.

A New Toy
We have some friends who were generous enough to give us a little tykes toy shopping cart that they weren't going to use. I am so excited about this because I loved the one I had as a child. Amelia was a little less enthused but curiously none the less. We put her doll in the seat and she dropped a couple of small toys in the cart part. The problem was she isn't tall enough yet to get 'em back out. She also lost interest pretty quickly after that. I think she will probably enjoy it a lot more in the next year or so.

New, New, New...
I don't like the word resolution. I feel like you set yourself up for failure. I don't like failure so I don't make resolutions, simple as that. With that being said, I do like the word goals. It's friendlier. This year when I sat down and looked at what is coming in the next 12 months and what I wanted to do with it I saw a common theme; change.
This year will be the end of my college career. It could possibly mean moving to a new place for that grown-up job I hope to get. It will mean the end of this sudo-stay at home mom lifestyle and Amelia's first time in full time daycare. It means a whole lot of change. Which I'll admit can be scary. Fear of the unknown is a big one for me. It's absolutely my biggest, but I choose to look at this coming year as an adventure. An adventure that I am not on alone, which makes all the difference.
So, this year my goal is 1) to survive, and 2) to document as much of it as possible. This last thing seemed a little too broad a goal to keep. I need something more precise if I am going to be able to achieve it. This year I am going to update this blog 2 times a week, minium. I'd like to do more but I am setting the bar low in the hopes that maybe I will overachieve. I do that sometimes...

Step'n out Saturday
Cardigan, Shirt, and Denim Leggings: Old Navy, Boots: Candies curtsey of kohls, Cluch: Target.
Thanks to a friend Curtis and I were able to get tickets to the 2012 NCAA division 1 championship game. SHSU (Curtis is alumi and I will be in August) had a perfect season and then made it to the championship. What! What! Even though we lost 17-6, I had an awesome time. Since the game is in Frisco, a good drive from home, we decided to make a weekend of it and celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary belatedly. Amelia is staying with her grandparents for the weekend. I am sure she is having a blast as the picture shows but I still miss her. Is that not cray, cray? I spend all my time with the child. Oh well, we are seating down to dinner at a fancy grown ups restaurant in a matter of moments, so more later.
Eat'em up Kats!!!
